iPad Air 4th Generation Review

Being a big fan of Apple products, I must say, iPad Air 4th Generation is a product which everyone wants while on-the-go, as it does what a computer does but in a simpler way. Apple has launched the newly updated iPad Air on September 15th, 2020 that has a large display, advanced chipset, more added features with 2nd generation Apple Pencil, a Magic keyboard, as well as, Smart Keyboard Folio compatibility. With every new product released by Apple, the company tries to give an entirely new, improved, advanced, and faster technology that allows the user to get a different level of tech-experience.

iPad Air 4th Generation Advanced Design Feature

Let's come back to the new and advanced iPad Air 4th Generation. The device is designed with an all-new 10.9-inch LiquidRetina display with a Touch Id integrated on the top button/StandBy button in spite of a Home Touch Id. The device's volume button is positioned on the right side along with a Magnetic connector Smart connector port and a Nano-Sim tray. The Apple iPad Air has dual speakers, one on the top and the other at the bottom of the device. There is no headphone jack support. The top speaker has accompanied by the microphone while the bottom speaker by the USB-C connector.

The Liquid Retina display of the iPad 4 generation has a resolution of 2360 x 1640 pixels at 264PPI which supports the P3 Wide Color Gamut and Apple's True Tone color adjustment feature. The display is fully laminated, having an anti-reflecting coating with 1.8% reflectivity and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. The True Tone display feature allows your iPad display to adjust its color temperature based on the light of its current surroundings. Warmer light in the room leads to warmer colors on your display. The iPad Air comes in five magnificent colors including Space Grey, Silver, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue.

The iPad Air operates on iPadOS 14 with A14 bionic chipset support, embedded with 11.8 billion transistors, 40% better performing six-core CPUs that consist of four high-efficiency cores and two high-performance cores, 30% faster graphics providing 4‑core GPU, and the next-generation 16‑core Neural Engine using industry's-first 5-nm process technology. The 16‑core Neural Engine with the new CPU and highly improved machine learning accelerators delivers breakthrough machine learning performance. Apple touts better performance at low power for editing 4K video, playing immersive games, creating music, and much more. The new enhanced 4‑core GPU allows a better and next-level gaming experience with blazing-fast graphics to the iPad users. The iPadOS 14 allows the user to turn their sketches into beautiful perfect shapes, the handwritten notes into typed text, and more. The device supports Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard Folio, and Magic Keyboard which allow the user to do multitasks with ease.

iPad Air 4th Generation Battery performance and Connectivity

The Apple iPad Air delivers better battery performance that allows doing operations like playing games, browsing sites, doing social networking, reading and creating own short story, and many more, full day without worrying about the battery percentage. The 28.6Wh rechargeable Li-polymer battery is supported with a fast power adapter charging or a USB-C charging cable to the computer. The battery goes for up to 10hrs while doing net surfing or watching videos.

Talking about the connection options, Apple iPad Air 4th Generation supports super-fast Wi‑Fi 6 as well as 4G LTE Cellular data when away from Wi-Fi. Tne device supports Nao-Sim and eSIM while on-the-go, in addition to iBeacon micro-location. I must say, Apple always takes really good care of their users by providing enough storage for their docs, photos, and more. The device comes with 4GB RAM and two internal storage 64GB and 256GB. iPad Air is provided with various in-built sensors like Touch ID, Three‐axis gyro, Accelerometer, Barometer, Digital compass, and Ambient light sensor.

iPad Air 4th Generation Camera Performance

The iPad Air comes with a 12MP Wide camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and Focus Pixels at the back that allows capturing decent, HDR+, and stunning photos with various camera modes like Time Mode, Panorama Mode, Burst mode. With auto image stabilization, one can get quite stable Live photos with nice control over the exposure and noise reduction. The rear camera supports up to 4K video recording at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps and up to 1080P HD video recording at 30 fps or 60 fps. This 12MP also supports up to 1080P slow-motion video recording at 120 fps or 240 fps. The videos are quite stable, tremendously beautiful that gives the user a professional photographer-like experience.

The 7MP FaceTime HD Camera with an aperture of f/2.2 with auto image stabilization really delivers a better and bright image even taken in low-light. This Front-facing camera supports up to 1080P HD video recording at 60 fps with good exposure. This camera also supports face-time video calling and audio calling.

iPad Air 4th Generation Accessibility

Like all other Apple devices, iPad Air comes with iCloud Storage too. Apple provides iCloud storage for complete storage of all the important documents in one place with automatic backup. In case you lost or reset the device by mistake or switch to a new Apple device, the only thing you have to do is to sign in to your iCloud account and you will get complete backup in all your device without losing any data. Not only this, one gets free 5GB iCloud data storage.

iCloud photo allows the user to automatically save, update, and share to all your favorite device with just a tap, which makes it easy for the user to share it with their family and friend by just adding their name to Share Album. Friendly speaking, I really appreciate this feature of the Apple devices as it automatically updates or saves any minor change in the phone data like phone number, message update, password, bookmarks, photos, files, App purchased everything to iCloud storage. So I don't have to worry about saving it manually on the iCloud. It also provides extra iCloud storage which you have to buy besides the free 5GB data storage. One can easily access all files from any kind of device using iCloud Drive.

The other interesting feature is the Siri Voice Assistant. This feature gives a quick and faster way to access the device without lifting a finger. Siri can do everything for you like calling, texting, browsing, navigation assistance, setting alarms, and many more. You only have to give the command to Siri by just saying Hey! Siri and you can even customize the Siri Voice Assistant too.

iPad Air 4th Generation Other Specifications

  • The device comes with some Built-in Apps like Maps, AppStore, Music, iTunes Store, Podcasts, Find My, Siri, Shortcuts, and many more. Here, AppStore is used to purchase apps that require final AppleID verification before doing the final payment. So, it is safe and secure.
  • There are few free Apps on the device, which are pre-installed like Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, GarageBand, Music Memo.
  • Like all other Apple devices, iPad Air also provide us to save battery by enabling the low-battery mode, which disables all in-app notifications.
